Adrianna Smith was named the America East Women’s Basketball Winter Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, according to an April 15 announcement by the conference.

The award highlights Smith’s achievements both on and off the court. She graduated with a 3.79 grade point average in kinesiology and physical education (exercise science) and currently maintains a 3.93 GPA as an MBA student. Smith has earned multiple academic honors, including three selections to the America East All-Academic team, three appearances on the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll, six placements on the Dean’s List, two Presidential Scholar recognitions, and four UMaine Scholar-Athlete awards for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Smith’s athletic accomplishments this season include being a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award and receiving both America East and ECAC Player of the Year honors. She was also named to several all-star teams: All-ECAC First Team, America East First Team, and America East All-Defensive Team.

A two-time recipient of the America East Player of the Year award and three-time first team all-conference honoree, Smith led her conference in scoring (22.8 points per game), rebounding (10.7), and assists (4.7). She recorded 20 double-doubles during the season—including an eleven-game streak—and became only the eighth player in NCAA Division I women’s basketball since 1982 to average more than 20 points, ten rebounds, and four assists per game over a season. Additionally, she is just one of four players in history to achieve at least 700 points, 300 rebounds, and 140 assists in a single season.

Earlier this year Smith reached her thousandth career rebound; she is now recognized as the only player—male or female—in America East history with at least one thousand points, one thousand rebounds, and four hundred assists over her career.

Smith posted double-digit scoring efforts in thirty-one out of Maine’s thirty-two games this season; she scored twenty or more points twenty-three times and had five games with thirty or more points. She was also named America East Player of the Week seven times.
