The University of Maine baseball team lost to Nebraska in a walk-off on March 13 in the opening game of their weekend series.
The result was a close contest, with Nebraska securing a 6-5 victory. The loss marks another setback for the Black Bears, who now hold a record of 2-14 this season.
Quinn Murphy contributed significantly for Maine, hitting his third home run of the season in the third inning and driving in three runs overall. Brody Rasmussen also scored twice, once on Murphy’s home run and again on a wild pitch. In the ninth inning, Juju Stevens drew a bases-loaded walk that brought Aidan Bardi home, briefly giving Maine the lead before Nebraska rallied in the bottom half.
On the mound, Jason Krieger started for Maine and delivered his best performance so far this year by allowing only two runs (one earned) over several innings. Brennan Rumpf pitched a scoreless seventh inning, while Jakc Donlin allowed two runs during his appearance. Owen Wheeler took the loss after giving up two runs on three hits in the final frame.
