The University of Maine baseball team lost to UMass Lowell on May 9, with a final score of 7-6. The game took place in Orono, where the Black Bears made several attempts to close the gap but ultimately could not secure a win.

Shane Andrus opened scoring for Maine with a solo home run in the second inning, marking his fifth home run this season. Brody Rasmussen contributed a two-run homer in the sixth inning, bringing Hunter St. Denis across home plate. In the seventh inning, Quinn Murphy hit another two-run home run, narrowing UMass Lowell’s lead to just two runs as Albert De La Rosa scored. De La Rosa later hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning that brought St. Denis home again, making it a one-run game.
On pitching duty, Vaun Larisa started and pitched four innings, allowing six unearned runs on four hits with three walks and one strikeout. Pierce Friedman finished out the last five innings, giving up only one run on four hits while walking two batters and striking out two.
The Black Bears now hold a record of 17 wins and 29 losses this season. They are scheduled to conclude their weekend series against UMass Lowell on Sunday, May 10. The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 11:40 AM before first pitch at noon.
