Rex Hauser, a freshman on the University of Maine baseball team, has been named America East Rookie of the Week. The announcement was made by the America East Conference on Tuesday.

Hauser, who is from Waterford, Vermont, achieved his first collegiate hits during Sunday’s game at Winthrop. He recorded three hits in four at-bats, including two home runs and four runs batted in. Earlier in the week, Hauser also pitched one inning against Charlotte.

The recognition highlights Hauser’s contributions both offensively and as a pitcher early in his college career.
