The University of Maine women’s basketball team will play against the University of Vermont in the Air Force Reserve America East Championship game on March 13 at Patrick Gymnasium.
This matchup is significant as it features the top two seeds in the conference, with Maine entering as the No. 2 seed and Vermont as No. 1. The winner will claim the conference title and a spot in postseason play.
The championship game will be broadcast live on ESPNU and streamed on ESPN+. Official watch parties are scheduled at Orono Brewing Company, Sea Dog Brewing Company, Pepper’s Landing, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Fans can also listen to radio coverage locally on 92.9 FM or online at GoBlackBears.com. Live statistics for the game will be provided by Vermont, and additional coverage will be available through Maine’s social media channels.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through the Vermont Athletics box office at UVMAthletics.com/Tickets.
Historically, Maine has won ten conference titles and holds a record of 10-12 in conference title games. The team’s last championship came in 2024 after defeating Vermont. In postseason meetings between these teams, Maine leads with an 8-4 record and is tied with Vermont at four wins each when facing off in conference title games. Coach Amy Vachon previously won two championships against Vermont as a player in 1997 and 1998.
Looking ahead, both teams aim to add another chapter to their rivalry when they meet for this year’s championship.
