Ruby Krasnow of the University of Maine Indoor Track and Field program was named the 2025-26 America East Female Indoor Track and Field winter scholar-athlete, the conference announced on April 15.
The award recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. Krasnow is a graduate student from Huntsville, Alabama, pursuing her PhD in Marine Biology with a perfect 4.0 GPA at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Krasnow received the Elite 18 Award at both the Cross Country and Indoor Track Championships this season. During the indoor track season, she secured five individual first-place finishes. She also won titles in the America East 3000m Championship and IC4A/ECAC 5000m Championship, as well as finishing second in the America East 5000m race. On March 25, she was named to the America East All Academic team.
Krasnow is only the second Maine Black Bear to earn this honor for women’s indoor track and field since Viktoriya Rybalko in 2003. The selection process involved nominations from each institution—limited to one student-athlete per sport—which were then voted on by the conference’s Student-Athlete Engagement committee. Eligible nominees must be projected starters or prominent reserves with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
Sport Scholar-Athletes are automatically eligible for further recognition as America East Female or Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which will be announced in July. Krasnow and her teammates are scheduled to compete at upcoming events including the Sean Collier Invite and Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational on April 17 and April 18.
