Release Time: 3:30 PM

On the above date and time, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Standish Fire/Rescue responded to the area of #757 Bonny Eagle Road in Standish for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The crash involved a single dump truck, which left the roadway and crashed into the trees on the opposite side of the road. 

James Cawood, 64 of West Baldwin was operating a 2016 Mack dump truck owned and operated by Gorham Sand and Gravel. The vehicle crossed the oncoming lane and went off the roadway to the left side before coming to rest in the ditch. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The truck sustained disabling damage and Mr. Cawood was transported to Maine Medical Center for minor injuries. 

The cause of the crash is still being investigated at this time. A Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit was summoned to the scene to assist with the investigation. 

Bonny Eagle Road (Rt. 35) was closed while the crash was being investigated. It is back open at this time.
