On April 16th, 2022, at approximately 10:30 AM, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was called Intervale Road, near the Memorial School for a person causing a disturbance with volunteers cleaning the athletic fields. The individual was said to be operating a motorcycle, displaying a badge, and announcing himself as a police officer. The suspect had fled the area prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Upon arrival to the area, Deputies along with a State Trooper, located an individual in the woods matching the description of the suspect. The motorcycle he was operating was stuck in the mud on a trail just behind the Memorial School.

Brian Lavigne, 31 years old, from New Gloucester was subsequently arrested and charged with violating conditions of release, terrorizing and impersonating a public servant. Brian was on four sets of bail conditions for previous criminal charges. He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bail.

We are aware of social media posts regarding similar conduct in the New Gloucester area. It is not known if this incident is connected to any others. Community members with additional information are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
