National Police Week is a time to recognize local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who swore an oath to protect and serve our communities, as a well as pay tribute to the law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Since 1805, the men and women of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office have remained vigilant and prepared to protect the citizens of Oxford County. Their work often goes unnoticed and their bravery is rarely revealed. This week, we thank them for their dedication to service, and honor all the heroes who have worn the uniform.
Earlier last week, carnations were left for Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Harrison Whitman and Oxford County Sheriff’s Lieutenant William Williams at the Maine Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial. These two officers lost their lives in the line of duty, and we must always remember and pay tribute to their service and their sacrifice.
I hope you will join us in honoring our fallen, and keep the safety of those who currently serve in your hearts.
-Sheriff Wainwright
