Release Time: 8:00 am

On 6/4/2022 at approximately 9:15 pm, the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center received a call of a motor vehicle crash involving a telephone pole with the wires blocking the roadway in the area of Box 300 Bennett Rd in New Gloucester. Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies along with New Gloucester Fire and Rescue responded to the area and discovered the telephone pole was broken in half and blocking the roadway.  Deputies on scene determined the vehicle had been traveling north on the Bennett Rd, failed to negotiate a corner, went into the ditch and ultimately struck the telephone pole. The operator and sole occupant in the vehicle was Chantell Marie, 45 years old from Cornville, ME. She was operating a 2021 Silver Toyota Tacoma. Although the vehicle had extensive front end damage and the air bags were deployed, thankfully Chantell sustained no injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Chantell was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence.
