Incident Synopsis: WANTED PERSON - CAUTION ARMED AND DANGEROUS

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the arrest of:

MERRITT S. BENNETT 48, years of age of Baldwin. Bennett is a white male, 5’10”, 190 lbs, brown hair (often shaped into a Mohawk.), & brown eyes.

Bennett may be driving a 2018 Dodge Ram truck, maroon in color, bearing Maine PC 8193YW.

Bennett is wanted on an active arrest warrant charging criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening, and violation of bail conditions. These charges stem from an armed confrontation with law enforcement on 07-2-2022 while police were investigating a 911 hang-up call at Bennett’s home. Bennett

fled into the woods and has eluded capture to this date. Bennett should be considered armed and dangerous. 

If you see Bennett do not approach, contact your local law enforcement immediately.
