988 Mental Health Crisis Line — a three-digit number allowing anyone to call, text, or chat with a trained mental health professional.
Starting this Saturday, July 16th, the three digits 988 will be available nationwide for phone calls or text messages.
The 988 Suicide & Crisis hotline will provide free and confidential emotional support to anyone in any type of suicidal or emotional crisis 24/7/365. 1-800-273-8255 will remain active as well; 988 is simply a quicker way to access the lifeline.
