Sheriff’s Office investigates double fatal crash in Dixmont
On Wednesday, August 17th at 1240pm, the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Western Ave in Dixmont for the report of a serious motor vehicle crash. The early investigation indicates a sedan traveling west crossed over the center line strucking a sedan traveling east.
Both vehicles were occupied by the lone drivers. Medical personal confirmed both drivers were deceased. Sheriff's Office deputies, investigators, reconstruction and mapping teams are all involved in the crash investigation. Witnesses to the crash have been identified and interviewed.
Our office has been assisted by Dixmont and Newburgh Fire Departments. The road will be closed for a extended period of time.
No other information will be released today, while proper notifications occur and the investigation continues.
