On Wednesday, August 17th at approximately 1240 pm, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Western Ave (Route 9) in Dixmont for a serious motor vehicle crash.
Sheriff's Office investigators have determined that Andrew Clark (34) of Belfast was traveling at a high rate of speed and making unsafe passes while traveling west in his sedan.
During one of the passes at the crest of a hill, Clark's vehicle struck an oncoming sedan being driven by Doreen Spinney (74) of Dixmont.
As a result, both drivers who were the sole occupants of their vehicles died at the scene. Sheriff's Office detectives, along with our reconstruction and mapping teams continue to investigate further facts of the crash.
This investigation remains active and no other details are excepted to be released until testing and crash analysis are completed.
