Incident Date: September 8th 2022

Incident Time: 12:24 PM

Incident Location: Poland Spring Road, Casco

Release Date: September 8th 2022

Release Time: 3:00 PM

On September 8, 2022 at approximately 12:24 PM the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Casco Fire Rescue responded to the area of 1154 Poland Spring Road (Route 11) in Casco for a box truck that had rolled over.

The initial investigation revealed that Jean Carlos Ayala Ortiz, 32 years old, of Salem, MA was operating a 2016 Hino Box Delivery Truck, when he left the roadway, causing the truck to overturn. Mr. Ayala Ortiz and his passenger, a 20 year old male from Massachusetts, claimed only minor injury and were evaluated at the scene.

The vehicle was leased by Bob’s Furniture and was loaded with household furnishings.

Poland Spring Road was closed at various times during the incident to allow Copp Motors to retrieve the vehicle.

Driver inattention appears to be a factor in the crash. Crews remained at the scene for an extended period of time for clean-up of debris and equipment removal.
