After losing to SM a couple weeks ago by 11 runs, the Mustangs regrouped and pitching was once again dominant in a 5-2 win in South Portland on Thursday afternoon.
Derek Roman had all his stuff working on the mound frustrating Seawolve hitters by going the first five to pick up the win. Shane Sullivan was efficient in the 6th and 7th and Keith Hooker finished up to record the save. Hooker also recorded three hits including two base hit bunts. Rolando Rodriguez and Caden Truman recorded doubles that led to runs. Rodriguez, Madon Booker and Garren Post all recorded RBI.
The middle infield of Brandon Gour and Zach Mann completed two key double plays In the latter part of the game to hold SM at bay.
"This was a very well played game between two good teams" said head coach Ryan Palmer. "It was nice to see us rebound and play with a lot of urgency after we came out very flat against them a couple weeks ago"
The Mustangs are off this weekend after their Pennsylvania trip got canceled due to weather. They are back in action next Thursday at Bridgton Academy
