Our (soon to be graduating) Paramedic students were performing summative trauma skill scenarios using pediatric patients. The patient in the photo is a 3 year old that we simulated being struck by a vehicle while riding his scooter. The scenario included massive abdominal trauma, head trauma, and extremity trauma.
Our EMS students must be prepared to treat patients from neonates to the geriatric population. Although we often use simulation manikins for scenarios, nothing beats live human interaction!
