Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal crash in Alton

Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal crash in Alton. 

On Thursday, January 26, 2023 at approximately 8:50pm, Deputy Sheriff Noah Tamulonis was on the Argyle Road in Alton conducting follow up from an incident reported earlier in the evening. 

During this follow up  Deputy Tamulonis located a vehicle that had left the roadway landing out of sight in Birch Stream. 

The crash investigation confirmed one individual was in the vehicle and did not survive. Sheriff's Office investigators, crash reconstruction and forensic mapping deputies conducted the investigation. 

The Sheriff's Offoce was assisted by several members of the Alton Fire Department. The road had to be closed for several hours during the investigation and removal of the vehicle. 

With respect for the family, no further information will be released at this hour. Additional details will be released when appropriate.
