Husson University DeCourt breaks 400-meter record, men’s track & field finishes fourth at Bates Invitational

Husson University freshman Conner DeCourt broke the program record in the 400-meter dash while men's track & field finished fourth overall at the Bates College Invitational on Saturday. 
 
DeCourt started his afternoon, finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.97, running the fifth fastest 200 time in program history. 
 
DeCourt would later finish second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.16, breaking the program record of 54.23 set by Chance Graves in 2022. 
 
Freshman Trey Goodwin also finished fourth in the event with a time of 55.69, while sophomore Erik LoSacco and Hunter Clarke finished sixth and seventh overall with times of 56.91 and 57.67, respectively. 
 
Sophomore Richard Cromwell recorded a second-place finish in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:32.39 breaking his previous personal best by .01 seconds, while LoSacco posted a fifth-place run in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:12.15 and senior Austin O'Neal finished seventh with a time of 2:22.95. 
 
In the 3,000-meter run sophomore David Hileman finished sixth with a time of 9:29.70 — the second fastest time in program history — while sophomore Christian Zapata ran to a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.20. 
 
Husson's 4x400-meter relay team of Zapata, Goodwin, Cromwell and Clarke finished fourth on the day running a 3:51.04, while the distance medley relay team of Cromwell, DeCourt, Hileman and sophomore Jeremy Stone finished second with a mark of 12:18.25. 
 
Zapata finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.80 meters, while senior Josh Hart finished third in the pole vault with a jump of 3.85 meters. 
 
Husson will now turn its attention to the Maine State Indoor Championships on Feb. 4 before completing the indoor portion of its track & field schedule at Suffolk University on Feb. 12.
