The Husson University women's basketball team used a 19-0 run late in the third quarter and the early part of the fourth to pick up a 70-49 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on the road in North Atlantic Conference play.

Husson (16-6, 10-1 NAC) and Presque Isle (10-7, 5-3 NAC) traded baskets throughout the opening minutes of the first quarter before the Eagles benefitted from a 10-2 run to close out the opening frame and carry an 18-11 advantage.

The Eagles continued their momentum into the second quarter, winning the quarter 16-10 over the Owls to control a 34-21 lead at the half.

However, UMPI began the second half on a run of its own, pulling within four points of the Eagles following a 17-8 run with 2:40 remaining in the third quarter.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from junior Lauren Cook and sophomore Sophia McVicar saw the Eagles lead grow back to double digits as Husson closed out the quarter on an 8-0 run to carry a 50-38 edge into the deciding quarter.

The fourth quarter would be all Eagles as they opened up a 25-point advantage with 3:11 remaining and cruised to a 70-49 victory.

Graduate student Vanessa Duarte led the way with a game-high 12 points, adding six assists and four steals while senior Bailey Donovan tallied a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double.

McVicar finished the night also with 10 points, adding four assists and sophomore Jordyn Lengle pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out five assists in 21 minutes after getting the start.

The Eagles finished the night shooting nearly 45 percent from the floor while limiting the Owls to just under 29 percent from the game and under 17 percent from behind the 3-point line.
