Correctional Division shares blankets with local warming center | Penobscot County Sheriff's Office

The Penobscot County Correctional Division shared 25 warm blankets with Pastor Terry Dinkins at the Mansion Church. There are several organizations opening there doors and resources to those in need. Blanks, hand warmers, coats and socks are useful items many organizations can use. Please consider donating a few items to these amazing organizations.

Warming Centers/SheltersTo learn the difference between a Warming Center and a Shelter a description has been provided at the bottom of the page.Due to the extremely cold temperatures that are expected Feb. 3 -4, 2023 we are sharing a list of area Warming Centers and Shelters. Some communities are establishing warming centers for weekend of Feb. 3-4, 2023 only.

Bangor – The BARN in conjunction with Bangor Public Health and HEAL will be open Friday night as a temporary warming site. Contact number at the BARN- 207-561-9444 located at142 Center Street Brewer.

Bangor -Unitarian Universalist Church: 120 Park Ave., Bangor (207) 505-1510 Open from 2/2 – 2/5. They open at 4pm on Thursday, 2/2 and close Sunday at 12pm 12/5

Bangor– Together Place 2 Second St., Bangor -Saturday, 6am- 5pm (207) 941-2897

Bangor-The Hope House will be open from 7pm until 8am 

Bangor -Needle Point Sanctuary is partnering with HEAL as a resource assisting with alternative shelter for this weekend. Contact person is Dave Carvagio needlepointsanctuary@gmail.com or by phone at 207-505-1510

Millinocket-Memorial Library, Warming Center- 5 Maine Ave. Millinocket. Sat. 10a-9pm and Sunday 8a-9pm 

Lincoln– Public Works Garage will be open for a warming shelter on Friday 2/3 at 5:00 pm and stay open until 9 am 2/4.

Bangor Warming Centers:

The Brick Church Overnight & Day Warming Center, 126 Union Street, Open all Day, intake 2-4pm for overnight, (207) 989-5401Bangor Area Homeless Shelter Overnight Warming Center, Low Barrier, Adult 6pm – 5:30 am (intake open all night!!), 263 Main Street, (207) 947-0092. Also has Day Warming Center

The Mansion Church Overnight Warming Center, Open 6pm – 7am but intake closes at 9pm, 96 Center Street, (207) 249-9154

Jericho Road Day Warming Center at The River Church, M-Sat 7am -4pm, 146 Center Street (behind the building), (207) 631-4183

Bangor Public Library Day Warming Center, M-Sat 10am – 8pm (5pm Fri & Sat), 145 Harlow Street, (207) 947-8336
