Husson University men's track & field sophomore Christian Zapata qualified for New England's in the high jump on Saturday as the Eagles competed at the Maine State Championships hosted by Bates College.
The Eagles began their afternoon scoring in the 200 meters, sophomore Conner DeCourt finished eighth-place overall with a time of 23.56, running a personal record in the event and later ran to a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 53.91.
Husson's 4x800 relay team of sophomore's Richard Cromwell, David Hileman and Erik LoSacco along with senior Austin O'Neal finished fifth in the event with a time of 9:05.73, running the second fastest 4x800 relay time in program history.
Zapata finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.90 meters to complete the Eagles showing at the state championships. Zapata's jump qualified him for New England's and just missed the program record of 1.91 meters set by Cayd Wortman back in 2021.
