The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced it's all-state awards on Thursday and Husson University women's basketball senior Bailey Donovan and graduate student Vanessa Duarte were both recognized.
Donovan earned all-state first team honors after winning her second-consecutive North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year award along with the NAC's first defensive player of the year honor while also being voted to the NAC first team earlier this week. Donovan put together a dominating season for the Eagles finishing fifth in the North Atlantic Conference with 15.2 points per game. She ranked second in the NAC and fifth in the nation with 13.5 rebounds per game while tallying 39 assists, 43 steals and 65 blocks She led the NAC with 2.4 blocks per game and ranked top-25 nationally while her 65 blocks ranked 12th in the nation and her 17 double-doubles ranked ninth in the nation. Additionally, Donovan was named NAC player of the week three times this season, along with winning NAC defensive player of the week three times. She was named to the D3hoops.com team of the week, Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week three times and New England Women's Basketball Association Player of the Week once.
Duarte caps off an impressive Eagles career earning all-state second team honors after earning her second-straight NAC all-conference award earlier this week after averaging 11.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Duarte recorded 104 assists and 48 steals while finishing 15th in the NAC with 11.8 points per game. Her 3.9 assists per game ranked fifth in the conference while her 2.4 assist/turnover ratio ranked second. Additionally, she ranked 13th in the conference with 1.8 steals per game and eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau in her final collegiate game.
