4.5% of citizens unemployed in Penobscot County in 2021

Penobscot County recorded an unemployment rate of 4.5% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 3,478 people out of the 152,211 living in Penobscot County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Penobscot County has decreased compared to the 4.6% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Penobscot County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 4.2%.

Of the 74,258 people who had a job during that time, 227 were employed in the Armed Forces and 74,031 belonged to the civilian labor force.
