The University of Maine Track and Field program will return to competition on April 23 as it participates in the Penn Relays, marking its first appearance at the event since 2022.
The Penn Relays are scheduled to take place from April 23 to April 25 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The meet is a significant event for collegiate athletes and offers opportunities for top performances.
Several athletes from the University of Maine are highlighted ahead of the meet. Charlie Collins is set to compete after not participating last weekend; his previous outing saw him finish third in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Friar Invitational with a time of 8:57.61, earning him America East Track Athlete of the Week honors. Ruby Krasnow recently received recognition as America East Female Track Athlete of the Week following her record-breaking win in the women’s 5,000 meters at the Sean Collier Invitational with a time of 15:59.16.
Gavin McGarrity enters after breaking his own school record in hammer throw earlier this season at Raleigh Relays and winning first place with a distance of 62.00 meters (203’5″) at the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational. Conor Morin returns following victories in both triple jump (14.62m/47’11.75″) and second place in long jump (7.01m/23′) during that same invitational.
Veselja Treacy also heads into competition after securing first place in the women’s 1500 meters at Sean Collier Invitational with a time of 4:28.82.
The University looks forward to seeing how its athletes perform on this national stage as they return to one of collegiate track’s most historic meets.
