92 percent of applicants to the University of Maine were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Maine, 93 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Orono enrolled 11,404 students in fall 2018, including 9,365 in undergraduate and 2,039 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

54 percent of undergraduates are residents of Maine, and 45 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (82 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (4 percent).

The school admitted 92 percent of the 12,457 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 20 percent enrolled.
