Penobscot County Sheriff's Office continues to show support during breast cancer awareness month

Penobscot County Sheriff's Office continues to show support during breast cancer awareness month.

What can you do during breast cancer awareness month?

1) Educate yourself.

2) Educate others.

3) Know your risk.

4) Schedule a check up and mammogram.

5) Support breast cancer organizations.

For four decades now, October has been recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time annually devoted to educating everyone about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and timely, high-quality care.

One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime – that’s about one person every 2 minutes. No matter who you are or where you live, breast cancer may touch your life.

We invite you to dedicate this October as a time of action, both for yourself and others.
