The New England Collegiate Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday and Husson University field hockey senior Kimmie Goddard was named defensive player of the week while freshman Maddie Perkins earned rookie of the week and her sister, senior Katie Perkins, earned player of the week.
Goddard finished the week 2-0 in cage for the Eagles posting back-to-back shutouts with 11 saves, including 10 saves against Thomas College. Additionally, Goddard tallied her fifth shutout of the season and has yet to allow a goal in conference.
Katie Perkins earned her first player of the week award after scoring two goals and assist on Tuesday at UMaine-Farmington, including her first penalty stroke goal of the season.
Maddie Perkins earned her third NECC Rookie of the Week honor and second straight accolade, while also being named player of the week following a three-goal, one-assist week. Perkins recorded 13 shot attempts and eight shots on goal and scored two goals, including the game-winning score against Thomas.
