Husson University Perkins sisters, Goddard sweep NECC major awards

The New England Collegiate Conference announced its 2022 field hockey all-conference awards on Friday and Husson University senior Katie Perkins was named offensive player of the year while fellow senior Kimmie Goddard earned defensive player of the year honors and freshman Maddie Perkins garnered rookie of the year honors. 
 
Katie Perkins led the Eagles with seven goals in conference play this season, tying for the league lead while compiling three assists for a conference-best 17 points. Additionally, Katie Perkins was named to the all-conference first team after helping Husson earned the No. 1 seed in the NECC Championship and was named NECC Player of the Week twice this season.
 
Goddard, earns defensive player of the year for the second time in her career and all-conference first team after finishing 6-0 in cage for Husson with 22 saves and an impressive .33 goals against average, having only allowed two goals on the season. Goddard was also named NECC Defensive Player of the Week a league-best three times on the year. 
 
Maddie Perkins, was also named to the all-conference first team after leading all rookies with five goals and four assists, finishing second on the team in goals, assists and points as a freshman while being named NECC Rookie of the Week an impressive four times this season. 
 
Additionally, Husson coach Diann Ramsey was voted coach of the year after guiding the Eagles to a perfect 6-0 record in conference during the regular season and the No. 1 seed in the conference championship. 
 
Junior Teagan Blackie was named to the all-conference first team after posting three goals and two assists in conference, both of which finished top five in the league. 
 
Senior Leigha Carrier also earned all-conference first team honors after leading the league with six assists on the season while senior's Maya Joy and Mallory Fairbanks both garnered all-conference first team honors on defense. 
 
Joy finished the season with one goal and one assist while Fairbanks also tallied a goal and an assist.
 
Additionally, senior Kayleigh Eckenrode was named to the Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
