It's time for another Alumni spotlight!
Here is what Sheriffs Deputy Hunter Fernald has to say about his EMCC experience:
" My name is Hunter Fernald and I completed the EMCCCriminalJustice at EMCC in 2021. Currently, I am a Sheriffs Deputy with the Hancock County Sheriffs Office and have been a Deputy there since May 2021, a couple months after I graduated.
I attended Ellsworth High School from 2015-2019, and the Hancock County Technical Center from 2017-2019 taking the law enforcement program. Upon completion of high school, I took a position with the Bar Harbor Police Department as a Parking Enforcement Officer and a Dispatcher from 2019-2021.
After finishing high school, I enrolled into EMCC for the CRJ program, and can honestly say it was the best decision for my education and my career. I definitely thought about a four-year degree in the similar field, but after looking at the cost and the product that came from EMCC’s program, I knew that was where I needed to be. The training, education and experience that I got from my time at the CRJ program is one of the best and don’t think it can be replicated anywhere else. From my personal experience, I took what I learned at HCTC and applied to the CRJ program, where I then applied that knowledge and skills to my time at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
One of the main reasons I chose EMCC was that it allowed me to work a full-time job, and have an education at the same time. I can’t speak for the full-time four-year programs, but the schedule for EMCC was very beneficial to me.
I think if any future potential student was trying to decide which program to choose, EMCC for me would be the one. I know I am one of many that went from the classroom at EMCC, to a uniform working the road and it shows that with hard work and effort many more can follow. "
Thank you Hunter for sharing your story!
