Subject being served a domestic violence protection order creates standoff.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's office attempted to serve a domestic violence protection order in the Town of Eddington. The suspect Thadius Wind (47 ), had previously created police standoffs in both the summer of 2021 and 2022.

At the time of this incident, Wind was on probation for firearms related and domestic violence charges. After creating a standoff that lasted 4 hours, Wind was taken into police custody by the Sheriffs Office Special Response Team.

Wind was transported to the hospital for evaluation. He is facing criminal charges for violation of a protection order, and violation of probation.

The incident remains under investigation and no other details will be released at this time. The surrounding public was not in imminent endanger during this incident.

Our office was assisted by the Eddington Fire Department and Brewer Rescue.
