The Husson University men's basketball team earned a North Atlantic Conference victory over SUNY Delhi 85-78 on Friday evening at Newman Gymnasium.
Husson (4-8, 2-0 NAC) and Delhi (8-6, 2-2 NAC) played to a highly-competitive, physical first half that saw neither team possess a lead bigger than nine. The two teams combined to shoot just 24-of-69 from the field and just 4-of-25 from three and turn the ball over 16 times as the Eagles took a 35-30 lead into the locker room.
Graduate student Justice Kendall led the offensive attack for Husson in the opening frame as he poured in 11, while junior Scott Lewis added 10. The offenses heated up during the second half but the Eagles were able to extend their advantage and hold onto the lead late to improve to 2-0 in conference play.
Kendall finished with 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists to pace Husson and Lewis poured in 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Husson won the rebounding battle 47-42 and shot 81% from the free throw line to help earn the conference win.
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they will host SUNY Cobleskill. Tip-off for this NAC contest is set for 3 p.m.
