On Thursday, January 26th at approximately 5:15pm, the Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons report in the Town of Alton. Family members reported that Ashely Bloomer (33) dropped her child off at school in the morning, but she did not pick her up. The last contact she had with her family was at approximately 11:05am through text messages.

When Ashely failed to pick up her child, she was reported missing. Attempt to locate files were completed, along with cell phone and on-star vehicle tracking procedures.

At approximately 8:50pm, while Ashely’s family and deputies were retracing the possible routes she would have driven, a deputy located her vehicle rolled over into Birch Stream off from the Argyle Road in Alton.

No obvious signs were present showing the vehicle had left the roadway. Ashely was alone in the vehicle and was found deceased inside.

Sheriff's Office investigators, crash reconstruction and forensic mapping deputies conducted the investigation. They returned to the scene today to conducted further investigations, including a vehicle autopsy . Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by several members of the Alton Fire Department. The road had to be closed for several hours during the investigation and removal of the vehicle.
