D3hoops.com announced its Division III women's basketball all-region 1 team on Tuesday and Husson University senior Bailey Donovan earned second team honors.
Donovan caps off an impressive run of postseason awards including New England Women's Basketball Coaches Association Third Team, Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-State First Team honors, her second-consecutive North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year award along with NAC defensive player of the year honors and was voted to the NAC first team earlier this week. Donovan put together a dominating season for the Eagles finishing fifth in the North Atlantic Conference with 15.2 points per game. She ranked second in the NAC and fifth in the nation with 13.5 rebounds per game while tallying 39 assists, 43 steals and 65 blocks She led the NAC with 2.4 blocks per game and ranked top-25 nationally while her 65 blocks ranked 12th in the nation and her 17 double-doubles ranked ninth in the nation. Additionally, Donovan was named NAC player of the week three times this season, along with winning NAC defensive player of the week three times. She was named to the D3hoops.com team of the week, Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week three times and New England Women's Basketball Association Player of the Week once.
Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-America selection.
This is the 22nd year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 26th annual All-America selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
Our women's All-America team will be announced on a weekday between the March 18 semifinals and the April 1 title game in Dallas.
